Do You Feel an Urge to Write Each Time?

This is where you can determine if you’re writing is a hobby or a career. If you write for fun then you don’t do it all the time, but if you’re writing as a profession, you certainly crave for it. There are times when I know I need a to take a break from too much writing but I usually use this time to write down my ideas, title and summaries of the novels I write or plan to write.

  1. Oh, Geraldine! This hits me hard! I have a day job as a child therapist and I do love it. I've helped a lot of families and they are amazing. BUT I have to admit that I'm always thinking about writing and trying to figure out ways to do this.

  2. @Tonya, we are on the same boat. I also have a day job, but my imagination seems to drift off to some faraway land where my characters seem real. I have to wait till the day is over so I can write. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Writing is a hobby for me. I once had a very famous singer interested in some of my songs. I wouldn't give up the rights and he didn't buy them. I told him I'd let him have them for free, but I wouldn't give up the rights. We didn't come to a deal.

My book, "The Long-Shooters" has received 20 top reviews on Amazon. I'd give 100% of the profits to charity for guaranteed big exposure. Not because I want money, but I think the story is really good! Besides, my wife makes a ton of money:)

  4. @Dan, I'm curious to know who that famous singer was. I'm glad your book is doing well and admire you for wanting to give 100% to charity. I also don't write for the money and don't really know any author who does. Writing is my true passion.

  5. I never "met" the singer, only his representative. He was always "On the Road Again." The book isn't setting the world on fire as far as sales go, but the reviews tell me that given a larger house, it may have garnered more interest. Solstice is a good deal for someone breaking in, but it takes a ton of time for the authors to kick down the doors to the public.

    I'd rather write than tweet.

    Regards

  6. @Dan, it's too bad you guys never met. I'm with you on Solstice being a good deal for breaking in. Promoting your book is a full-time job and I hate that it takes me away from my writing. I would rather right than promote, but nobody will hear about my books if I don't promote.
