I take a lot of long walks by the lake. I feel inspired when I see nature around me and it keeps the ideas coming. I also write two to three novels at a time, so when I feel I’ve hit a roadblock with one novel, I often move on to the next novel to maintain excitement and freshness.
You take walks across the lake?
ReplyDeleteWow you are so clever! The only man I know who walked on water was.... you guessed it!
But seriously there is nothing so refreshing as walking outside and enjoying the world around us to refresh the creative spark. In my neck of the woods Spring is bursting out all over...flowers fresh new leaves, the daffodils are finished but the rest of nature's bounty is filling in the gaps.
I just love spring.
@Shirley, glad you caught that error. I meant to say that I take walks by the lake which is across the street from where I live. LOL! Thanks for pointing it out. After spending a lot of time on the computer, I make sure to walk outside and there's nothing more relaxing then a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Avoiding distractions and being in the mood to create. 3am works well for me, or having the house totally to myself.

@Dan, you're another night owl like me. I'm usually alert at night and love my quiet time. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWalking near the water is not an option at the moment. I went to the beach yesterday and cried...all our lovely sandy beaches are littered with oil, containers and their rotting contents, dead birds and seals and police tape keeping us back from the foreshore.
ReplyDeleteIt is heartbreaking that such an accident as The Rena running aground on a well charted reef a few miles off shore can happen in this day and age.
And threatening to close our busiest port.
This is the fourth major disaster to strike New Zealand in just over a year. Two major earthquakes, Pike River mine disaster and now this.
@Shirley, I'm so sorry to hear that. New Zealand is such a beautiful country with lots of natural resources and seeing these tragedies make me sad. I pray that they can clean up the oil spill.
